VISIT THE LEGISLATURE!
Every year thousands of students visit the Alberta Legislature, where they experience parliamentary democracy at work. Home to 100 years of debate and decision-making, the Legislature Building is an exciting venue for students to learn more about the history and traditions of the province as well as to observe elected representatives as they debate and develop public policy.
TIME CAPSULE CLASS ACTIVITIES!
In 1909 during construction of the Alberta Legislature Building, a time capsule was placed inside the cornerstone. It was removed and opened in 2012 in celebration of the centennial of the official opening of the building.
A number of educational activities have been developed in connection with this exciting event. These activities have direct connections to the Alberta Social Studies Program of Studies and are applicable to all grade levels.
