Mandate

The Select Special Democratic Accountability Committee consists of 12 members of the Legislative Assembly. The Committee has been appointed to review matters pertaining to:

  1. Questions surrounding recall and citizens' initiatives, as per Sessional Paper 192/2020
  2. the Election Act; and
  3. the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act.

The Committee must submit its report pertaining to recall and citizens' initiatives within four months after commencing its review, and its report pertaining to its review of the Election Act and Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act, within six months after commencing its review, to the Legislative Assembly, including any recommendations the Committee wishes to make. 

Call for Written Submissions

The Select Special Democratic Accountability Committee is seeking written submissions on FOUR SEPARATE areas of inquiry: Citizens’ Initiatives, recall legislation, the Election Act and the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to make a submission on more than one of these topics, please make submissions for EACH INDIVIDUAL TOPIC. This will assist us in correctly receiving your input as part of this review.

Submissions may be made here (webform) or may be sent to: DACommittee.Admin@assembly.ab.ca. The deadline for submissions is September 25, 2020

Please note that submissions and the names of submitters may be made public. In addition, please include your full first and last name in your submission. Anonymous submissions cannot be accepted.
